Swedenhas a long and rich tradition when it comes to popular music. Actually, per capita it is one of the most successful exporters of pop and rock music in the world. They gained this international prominence after ABBA won the eurovision song contest.
Solid bass sounds are essential in music destined for the dance floor. The low end energy from these sounds give tracks weight and body and together with the drums and other rhythm instruments they create rhythmic pulse. Without this foundation, tracks would sound thin and unbalanced. Nobody would dance to such a track.
We need members who have a moment to spare to rate compositions that were submitted in connection to the first ever Midi2MP3 composition competition on Midichords.com. During the last month, several members have downloaded a midi file and turned that file into some really great arrangements!
It has been around for a few years, but if there is one book we'd recommend reading it is Music Theory for Computer Musicians. It’s a great book that tells you everything you always wanted to know about Music Theory.
There’s something in this book for everyone. From the characteristics and properties of sound to topics like notes, scales, chords, rythm, tempo and note lengths, melodies and motives, the author dedicates plenty of pages to explain every aspect in a concise and clear way.
The first time I heard the music from Jelle Boon, a really young electro-producer from the Netherlands, I was quite overwhelmed. His tracks are gorgeously rich and complex arrangements that fascinate from beginning to end and give you a kick as if pure adrenaline was injected right into your veins. Unique sounds, playfully woven into mesmerizing, spellbinging tracks are his mastery.
Halon (Espen) is a Norwegian producer with a hidden talent up his sleeve. Under various aliases he has composed some really interesting trance and house tunes. He is by no means an established name and has no official releases to date, but when I came across 'Halon Feat. Veela - Tell Me' on soundcloud it got stuck on repeat. It’s one of these tracks I'd play insanely loud when cruising the German autobahn in my BMW. Ok, I admit it would be in a somewhat less powerful car, but the stamina of this track more than compensates for that!
We've upgraded midichords and included a blog feature.
